ReSound Sensia

ReSound Sensia is GN Hearing's newest premium hearing aid family, designed to solve a common shortcoming of AI-powered hearing aids: focusing on the wrong voice in a noisy room. Sensia introduces a new automatic sound-processing system that helps you hear the person you're actually talking to, while keeping the small size and all-day battery life of its predecessor, ReSound Vivia.

Intelligent All-Around: Three Technologies Working Together

Sensia's automatic program, called Intelligent All-Around, combines three technologies that coordinate in real time:

• AcoustIQ classifies your sound environment and decides which features to engage
• A binaural 4-microphone beamformer uses microphones on both hearing aids to give preference to speech in the direction you're facing
• Deep Neural Network (DNN) denoising uses AI trained on speech to reduce competing voices and distractions around the person you're listening to

Hearing the Person You're Facing

AI noise reduction is effective at separating speech from noise, but in a room full of conversations it may favor the loudest voice, even if that person is two tables away. Sensia addresses this by pairing its DNN with the beamformer, making speech in front of you the primary target. It still preserves lower-frequency sound from outside that forward focus, so you keep the spatial awareness your brain uses to locate sounds.

When the environment is dominated by non-speech noise, such as a fan or vacuum cleaner, Sensia switches to ReSound's established Noise Tracker II system to avoid unwanted sound artifacts.

Stable, Accurate Automatic Adjustments

In GN's research, AcoustIQ achieved 91% accuracy in classifying sound environments and 88% higher accuracy in classification and feature engagement than the closest premium competitor.

Sensia moves among three listening strategies. In quiet settings, both hearing aids remain largely open to the full sound environment. As noise increases, Sensia can shift to its Better Ear strategy, making one side more directional while the other preserves broader awareness. When Sensia 9 detects sustained conversation in front of you amid loud noise, it gradually engages its strongest mode, combining the beamformer and DNN denoising for a steadier listening experience without frequent jumps between settings.

Small Design and All-Day Battery Life

Despite its added processing, the rechargeable Sensia microRIE keeps Vivia's compact size and is rated for at least 24 hours of use, with up to about 30 hours depending on usage. Sensia is available in microRIE, size 312 and size 13 RIE, CIC, wireless ITC, and rechargeable ITC and ITE styles, with the complete automatic system included in Sensia 9 microRIE.

Auracast and Cochlear Implant Compatibility

Sensia includes Bluetooth Low Energy Audio and Auracast broadcast audio that works at launch, allowing you to select broadcasts in theaters, airports, and houses of worship through the ReSound Smart 3D app. For patients with a cochlear implant in one ear, ReSound Sensia Bimodal is designed to work with Cochlear Nucleus sound processors for more coordinated hearing.
