I just returned from an important trip to Washington, D.C., and I wanted to take a moment to share what we’ve been working on—not just for our patients here in Austin, but for individuals across the country who rely on Medicare for their hearing health care.

Dr. Davis with ADA Colleagues on Capitol Hill

As part of my role with the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), I joined fellow board members on Capitol Hill to meet with members of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Our mission was clear: to advocate for HR 2757 – the Medicare Audiologist Access and Services Act.

What is HR 2757?

This bill is designed to improve access to audiology services for Medicare beneficiaries. Right now, outdated Medicare rules limit how patients can see an audiologist and what services are covered. HR 2757 would:

  • Allow Medicare patients to see audiologists directly, without needing a referral from another doctor.
  • Expand the range of covered services, including evaluations for balance and dizziness, which are often left out.
  • Ensure audiology services can be delivered through telehealth, increasing access for patients who live in rural areas or have difficulty traveling.

These updates are long overdue, and if passed, this legislation would help us provide more timely, comprehensive care—especially for older adults who are most at risk for hearing loss and balance disorders.

During our time in D.C., we met with several members of Congress, including lawmakers from right here in Texas. We asked them to support HR 2757 and to help bring better hearing care to Medicare patients—both in person and through telehealth.

We expect the bill to move to the Senate in about a month, and I’m hopeful that with continued advocacy, it will gain the momentum it needs.

Why this matters:

Our mission at Victory Hearing & Balance has always been to put patients first. That means making sure you have access to the care you need when you need it. It was an honor to bring your voice with me to Washington and advocate for a future where hearing and balance health is treated as the essential part of overall well-being that it is.

What Can You Do?

Your voice can make a real difference. If you believe in better access to hearing and balance care for Medicare patients, here are a few simple ways you can help:

1. Contact Your Elected Officials

Let them know you support HR 2757 and ask them to co-sponsor or vote in favor of the bill. You can find contact info for your representatives and senators at www.congress.gov/members.

2. Share Your Story

Have you or a loved one struggled to access hearing care through Medicare? Sharing your experience can help lawmakers understand how these changes would impact real people.

3. Spread the Word

Forward this to friends and family, especially those who are Medicare beneficiaries. The more voices behind this effort, the stronger the message.

Thank you for trusting us with your care and for being a part of the Victory community. We’ll continue to keep you updated as the bill progresses through Congress.

With gratitude,

Dr. Jill Davis
